  I was in town for a conference with a coworker, and when in Iowa you get pork tenderloin sandwiches and onion rings. These were perfectly breaded and crispy and the onion rings had a light batter with a great flavor. I would definitely stop back again when I'm in the area.

  Took the kiddos to Smitty's Saturday after doing some swimming and luckily there was room at the bar for us to belly up. My 10 yr old was excited they had Millstream root beer and my youngest slurped down some chocolate milk. Kiddos got burgers and we got small tenderloins. Delicious. How have I never been here? It will become a regular place for us, for sure. Our server made us feel right at home and was extra nice to my boys. Unfortunately the ice cream machine was down but I look at that as a reason to go back again.
  If you want a greasy lunch and a server that calls you sweetie, Smitty's is the spot!

  Walking into Smitty's was like walking into a diner in the past! It is small and cozy but quick and delicious. There were 4 employees keeping the busy place efficient, clean, and fun! Wendy was our happy and knowledgeable server who aimed to please. We are happy and full! Of course, Smitty's is known for the tenderloin but I asked what else do we need. Wendy recommended burgers and cutlet sandwich. We had a cutlet sandwich, small tenderloin, onion rings, French fries, soda and milkshake. All were great, but the tenderloin with French Fries were my favorite! We will be back and if you haven't been, go for it. Smitty's is a place to bring family and friends; it's just small so plan ahead with tables greater than 4.

  If you ever get stuck out in Des Moines, IA because of a delay at the airport.  Come out here and grab a bite to eat.  It's relatively close by via Uber/Lyft.  
  
  I quite enjoined the pork tenderloin sandwhich.  It's large and delicious.  Very tender.  
  
  Service is friendly/quick.  Grab a counter spot and watch them cook it up.
  
  PS - According to the guys at the restaurant, Pork Tenderloin Sandwhichs were actually invented in Indiana.

  I give this a 3 star because the staff was so nice and friendly, every time I travel to the area I see ads about these great tenderloins.  So I finally tried one.  Maybe i am just not a tenderloin person. I ordered the Queens cut sandwich, an order of fries and fried mushrooms.
  
  The tenderloin might have been good, but not for me.  It was not tough, and was a big cut.  The breading was the same used on the mushrooms, it lacked something, it was bland, definitely needed salt, but still something more.  The mushrooms, were big, and were okay, because of the sauce, which was a thin perhaps ranch sauce.
  
  The biggest disappointment was the fries, I thought it was going to be krinkle cut fries, but they were plain fries.  
  
  This was Wednesday night, when I drove past on Thursday they were closed! Not sure if they were just not open on Thursdays or what.
